Inclusion through carpentry

Why inclusion through carpentry ?

Building an object is like building yourself: you explore your needs, tastes and dreams.
By drawing, you give yourself permission and legitimacy. By modeling, you project yourself. By building, we call upon our senses, are in contact with materials, with the noise of machines, with the smell of wood. We take care of ourselves by respecting safety rules. You will learn to be rigorous and methodical. We overcome our apprehensions, confront reality, learn to make mistakes and overcome them. You work hard to get to the end and feel proud, you feel more competent, you’ve proved to yourself that you’re capable. And every day, we’re reminded of this when we come across an object, piece of furniture or piece of equipment that we’ve made ourselves.

At Entropie, we believe that DIY and self-building are powerful levers for boosting self-esteem. That’s why we offer workshops to people in personal and socio-professional difficulty, through three main projects:

Building to rebuild yourself

Since 2017, we’ve been offering workshops to severely socially excluded people, accompanied by rehousing support structures, to enable them to build furniture for their home.

Pimp my room

We offer workshops for young people living in hostels, enabling them to build a piece of furniture or equipment for their room. It’s an opportunity for them to take ownership of their living space and express their creativity through woodworking.

Fa'bel âge

We offer workshops to isolated senior citizens, providing them with an opportunity to enjoy woodworking. The workshop can be carried out with the person of their choice (parent, relative…) and enables them to build a piece of equipment, an object or a piece of furniture.
