participative Construction

What is it ?

Designed for professionals or local authorities, this service gives you the opportunity to design your own customized worksite with Entropie, choosing from a range of options:

We guide a member of your team or the general public in the design and manufacture of an object that your organization needs. It’s an opportunity to acquire new skills, project yourself into a useful project, and share convivial moments with members of the Entropie association, whether in their workshops in Mens or Grenoble.

Specifications, drafts and designs are created according to the desired involvement of your team and audience. Production can then be carried out in two formats:

  • Project school: a small group of participants carry out a project from A to Z, acquiring an overall vision of the project as well as practical and theoretical knowledge. By the end of the project, they have a real knowledge of the areas covered (carpentry, framing, etc.) and are able to reproduce the project. Ideal for those wishing to become autonomous in a particular field.
  • Participative worksite: The worksite is streamlined, with each participant assigned a simple task, and one or two supervisors responsible for giving instructions. This organization, combined with a large number of participants, reduces the cost of the project compared with if it had been carried out by professionals. The participants acquire some know-how, although they don’t have an overall vision of the project. This formula is ideal for smaller budgets, and encourages the creation of links between participants.

Depending on your needs, we can intervene in all of the following stages, or only where necessary:

  • support project formulation, specify needs and consider uses (research, sketches, models)
  • technical design (dimensioning, 3D modeling, drawing)
  • create educational step-by-step instructions to help participants become self-sufficient during construction
  • preparing and supervising construction

A few examples :

urban furniture

collective project carried out for the city of Grenoble as a participative worksite

The city of Grenoble commissioned us to create the technical design for the street furniture built as part of the participative workcamps organized during the COP program. Based on the sketches of another service provider who had imagined the design, we developed the models and produced educational step-by-step instructions to guide participants in the worksite, which was led by the city’s technicians…

public bench/planters

collective project carried out for the city of Grenoble as a participative worksite

The city of Grenoble commissioned us to design garden benches for climbing plants. We drew up the aesthetic and technical design, produced the models and supervised a participative worksite with a group of volunteers mobilized to build the furniture.

soap cutting tool

private project carrried out with  Les Affranchis soap specialists.

Les Affranchis, a soap manufacturer based in Grenoble, asked us to design and build soap cutting tools. We took care of the technical design, and offered support in the building process, while the second was purchased to reduce their costs.

"La Grosse Bertha"

collective project carried out projet collectif réalisé pour l’association La P’tite Marmite en chantier école

The association “La Petite Marmite” offers catering services featuring vegetarian cuisine made from organic and local ingredients. In line with its desire to raise public awareness of environmental issues through food, the association turned to us for a cooking method using renewable energy.
In collaboration with the association’s members, we developed a large solar oven that offers cooking power and temperature equivalent to those of a traditional oven. The oven’s foldable reflectors make it easy to transport in a van. La Petite Marmite’s volunteers and paid staff played an active part in its manufacture, strengthening the bonds between them!
